I was in London yesterday (Friday 28th) for the first in a series of Penguin Talks, where Penguin Random House bring their best selling authors into schools. First up was Israeli author and historian, Yuval Noah Harari who has been a best seller for over two years and has a huge list of fans including Barack Obama, Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg to name drop a few. His new book explores what humans need to live successfully in the 21st century, it was amazing to hear him talk to around 100 students from different London boroughs. Faced with fairly tricky lighting conditions with washes of red and blue across the stage and audience, very bright red uplighters on the backdrop which were very close to the guys on stage - it was fairly hard to strike a nice balance.
They'd all been invited to the Lilian Bayliss Technology School in Kennington to hear him talk for around 45 minutes alongside Russell Brand while inviting questions from the young audience in a Q & A session. The event was a huge success and I can't wait for the next one. It was great to work with Penguin and also alongside The Visuals Team again.
